How do I record a wind speed?
Navigate to the Gust tab, tap the + button, enter the wind speed and gust speed in knots, select the wind direction, and optionally add a note. The Beaufort scale is calculated automatically.
How do I start a training session?
On the Drift (home) page, tap "New Session" in the Quick Actions section. This will create a new training session that you can track over time.
How do I export my data?
You can export your wind records as a PDF report. Go to the Gust page and tap the PDF icon in the top right, or use Settings → Export All Data. The report will be shared using your device's share sheet.
Is my data backed up?
All data is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud backup enabled for your device, your app data will be included in device backups. We recommend regularly exporting PDF reports for safekeeping.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Settings → Clear All Data. This will permanently delete all your wind records, sessions, and routes. This action cannot be undone.
What is the Beaufort Scale?
The Beaufort Scale is a standardized scale (0-12) for measuring wind speed based on observed conditions. Windtide automatically calculates the Beaufort number from your wind speed recordings.
Can I change speed units?
Yes! Go to Settings → Speed Unit and choose from Knots, km/h, m/s, or mph.
Does the app require internet?
No. Windtide works completely offline. All data is stored locally on your device and no internet connection is required.
